ポリアセタール（ポリオキシメチレン）には、大まかに二つ代表があり、デュポン社のデルリンはホルムアルデヒドの結合（CH2O）でつくられたポリオキシメチレン（CH2O）の分子鎖からできているホモポリマーと、わが国のポリプラスチックス社のジュラコン®はホルムアルデヒドの三量体であるトリオキサン(CH2O)3にエチレンオキサイド（ C2H4O）などを結合してつくられたコポリマーがあります。

ホモポリマー

ホモポリマーの「ホモ」は「同質」という意味であり、ポリマーとは高分子を意味しています。

つまりホモポリマーとは全て同じモノマーユニットにより構成されている高分子のことです。

ホモポリマーは炭素-酸素結合のみで主鎖を形成されています。

コポリマー

コポリマーの「コ」は「共に」という意味で、ホモポリマーとは逆で、異質のモノマーユニットにより構成されている高分子のことです。

その中でも２種類のモノマーユニットで構成されているものをコポリマーと言います。

コポリマーはホモポリマーより熱安定性が良く、成型時の分解が少ないため変色やガス発生が低いため条件の温度範囲を広くとることができます。

また、高温時の耐熱水性、耐アルカリ性、耐油性に優れています。

コポリマーはその化学構造のため、ホモポリマーより結晶化度がやや低く強度や剛性はやや低い反面、柔軟性に優れています。

ホモポリマーに比べて融点や熱たわみ温度は約10℃低いですが、実用的な耐熱温度に差はありません。

There are roughly two types of polyacetal (polyoxymethylene); Polyplastics Co., Ltd.'s Duracon® is a copolymer made by combining ethylene oxide (C2H4O) with trioxane (CH2O)3, which is a trimer of formaldehyde.

homopolymer

"Homo" in homopolymer means "homogeneous", and polymer means macromolecule.

In other words, a homopolymer is a macromolecule that is composed entirely of the same monomer units.

Homopolymers have only carbon-oxygen bonds forming the main chain.

copolymer

The ``co'' in copolymer means ``together'', which is the opposite of homopolymer and refers to a macromolecule composed of heterogeneous monomer units.

Among them, those composed of two types of monomer units are called copolymers.

Copolymers have better thermal stability than homopolymers and are less prone to discoloration and gassing due to less decomposition during molding, allowing for a wider temperature range of conditions.

It also has excellent hot water resistance, alkali resistance, and oil resistance at high temperatures.

Due to their chemical structure, copolymers have a slightly lower crystallinity than homopolymers and have slightly lower strength and stiffness, but are more flexible.

The melting point and heat deflection temperature are about 10°C lower than those of homopolymers, but there is no difference in practical heat resistance.
