『57』17世紀ヨーロッパ30年戦争の終結と清教徒革命 河東 丈二

イングランドでは1642年、ついに議会とチャールズ1世が戦争を始めます。三国戦争の始まりです。チャールズ1世は王権神授説の信奉者ですから、議会の言うことを聞かない。それで議会の勢力が強いロンドンは嫌だということで、北方のノッティンガムに宮廷を移して内乱を起こしたのです。

　フランスではルイ13世が没して、5歳のルイ14世が即位します。リシュリューも死んでいましたが、リシュリューのすごいところはマザランという後継者をつくっていたことです。マザランはイタリアのお坊さんです。フランスには縁もゆかりもなかったのですが、リシュリューとイタリア戦役で出会い、リシュリューはマザランの聡明（そうめい）さを見込んで自分の後継者にしたのです。

　しかし、フランスの大貴族は「リシュリューはお坊さんだが辣腕だから仕方なく従った。でも、リシュリューの後継者もお坊さんで、しかもイタリア人。俺たちをなめているのか」と思ったわけです。それで「フロンドの乱」という反乱を起こします。

　一時ルイ14世もパリを追われるのですが、マザランも辣腕ですから、貴族を倒して立派な政治を行います。リシュリューとマザランという2人の優れたお坊さんが立派な政治をしてお金をためたので、成人になったルイ14世が無尽蔵のお金を使って好き放題をすることができたわけです。いろいろなことを実行しようと思ったら、やはりお金が必要です。きちんと財政を再建して立派な政治を行う人がいないと何もできない、ということがよく分かります。

　30年戦争は、新教徒側もローマ教会側も疲弊して、ウェストファリアの2つの町で講和会議が始まり、カルヴァン派が承認されて1648年に終結します。

　イングランドでは内乱で敗北したチャールズ1世が1649年に処刑されて、政治家でかつ軍人のクロムウェルによる史上唯一の共和制が生まれます。クロムウェルは護国卿という地位に就きます。これを、アイルランドも巻き込まれていたので、三国戦争と呼んでいます。清教徒革命（ピューリタン革命）と呼ばれていました。

Charles I is a follower of the Divine Right of Kings, so he does not listen to Congress. In France, Louis XIII died, and 5-year-old Louis XIV took the throne. Richelieu was also dead, but the great thing about Richelieu was that he had created a successor called Mazarin. Mazarin is an Italian monk. Although he had no connection with France, he met Richelieu in the Italian battle, and Richelieu made him his successor in anticipation of Mazarin's brilliance.

However, the great French aristocrat thought, "Richelieu is a monk, but We obeyed because he was a savvy man. However, Richelieu's successor is also a monk, and he is an Italian. Are you licking us?" That causes a rebellion called "The Fronde Rebellion".

Louis XIV was also chased from Paris for a while, but Mazarin is also a savvy man, so he will defeat the aristocrats and carry out good politics. Two excellent monks, Richelieu and Mazarin, had good politics and saved money, so adult Louis XIV was able to spend inexhaustible money on whatever he wanted. He still needs money if he wants to do a lot of things. It's easy to see that nothing can be done without someone who can rebuild their finances and do good politics.

The Thirty Years War was exhausted on both the Protestant side and the Roman Church side, and peace conferences began in two towns in Westphalia, and the Calvinists were approved and ended in 1648.

In England, Charles I, who was defeated by the civil war, was executed in 1649, creating the only republic in history by politician and military officer Cromwell. Cromwell takes the position of Lord Protector. This is called the Trilateral War because Ireland was also involved. It was called the Puritan Revolution.
