オスマン朝、サファヴィー朝、ムガール朝

アジアの3大帝国では、中国を除いた3つの帝国が落日を迎えます。まず、オスマン朝はアフメト3世の時代。先ほどお話ししたプルートの戦いでピョートル大帝を助けた優しい人です。チューリップ時代と呼ばれていますが、アフメト3世は花が大好きで、ネーデルラントからチューリップを輸入して街中を飾っていた楽しい時代でした（1703〜1730年）。衰退していく前の秋日和のような時代です。

　インドでは、狂信的な王様でヒンドゥー教徒を迫害していたアウラングゼーブが死去し（1707年）、その後は無理がたたってガタガタになります。

　中国の清は最盛期を迎えており、康熙帝（こうきてい）の軍がチベットの首都ラサに進軍して、チベット全土を領土にします。サファヴィー朝はアフガニスタンのマフムードが1722年、「世界の半分」といわれるほど栄えた首都イスファハーンを占領して略奪します。その結果、アジアの三大帝国の中ではまず、ペルシャのサファヴィー朝が脱落していきます。

　清では雍正帝（ようせいてい）という康熙帝の子供が即位。この人は中国の3大ワーカホリックといわれているほどめちゃくちゃまじめに仕事をした皇帝で、どんなに頑張ったかというと、奏摺（そうしゅう）といわれているのですが、約1200人の地方官と毎日メールをやり取りしていたのです。雍正帝は、地方の1200人の知事や市長から届く報告文書を全部読んで、朱を入れるのです。「これはあかん」「こんなことをしたら解雇だぞ」「これはよくやった」などと。だから、睡眠時間が3時間になったともいわれています。すごいですよね。それほど頑張った人です。

　中国ではこの頃、地丁銀制、つまり人頭税を廃止して、土地や資産をベースに銀で税金を納めるようになります。中国は陶磁器やお茶、絹を世界中に売って、その代金を銀で得ていたので銀がどんどんたまっていきました。そこで税金も全て、銀をベースにしようということになったわけです。

　人頭税を廃止すると、中国の人口が1億人から3億人に急増しました。人頭税だと人間の数で税金を払わないといけないから、みんな子どもなどの人数を隠していたわけですね。でも「もう人頭税ではなくて、土地や資産に課税されるのだったら正直に報告しよう」ということになり、人口が急増したわけです。税金というのは、いかに社会を変えるものかが分かりますね。

　ペルシャでは、アフシャール族という部族にナーディル・シャーという軍人がいました。この人がサファヴィー朝の皇帝を助けて、イスファハーンを奪還します（1729年）。でも、実力で自分が皇帝を担いで都を回復したわけですから、ちょうど織田信長が足利義昭を助けて京都に入ったような話です。信長は足利義昭をしばらくはケアしていますが、そのうちに面倒くさくなったら放逐していますよね。

　同じように、ナーディルは7年後にはサファヴィー朝を滅ぼしてアフシャール朝を開きます。この人は軍事の天才だったので、インドまで遠征してデリーを占領してしまいます。ムガール朝はペルシャ軍に都を奪われるほど衰退してしまったわけです。

　ナーディル・シャーは「最後の征服者」と呼ばれています。1747年、ナーディルが暗殺されると、彼の武将だったアフマド・シャー・ドッラーニーという将軍がアフガニスタンで自立してドッラーニー朝をつくります。

Three empires except China began reach the sunset.

First, the Ottoman dynasty was the era of Ahmed III. He is a kind person who helped Peter the Great in the Battle of Pluto I mentioned before. Called the Tulip Period, Ahmed III loved flowers and was a fun time importing tulips from the Netherlands to decorate the city (1703-1730). It is an era like clear autumn days before it declines.

In India, Aurangzeb, a fanatical king who persecuted Hindus, died (1707), and after that, it became unstable.

China's Qing dynasty is at its peak, and the army of Emperor Kangxi will advance to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, and make the whole of Tibet a territory. In the Safavid dynasty, Mahmood of Afghanistan occupies and plunders Isfahan, the capital city that prospered as "half of the world" in 1722. As a result, the Persian Safavid dynasty will drop out of the three major Asian empires.

In the Qing dynasty, a child of Emperor Kangxi named Yongzheng Emperor was enthroned. This person is an emperor who worked so diligently that he is said to be one of the three major workaholics in China. He was exchanging mails every day. Yongzheng Emperor reads all the reports received from the 1,200 local governors and mayors and puts them in vermilion. He said, "This is awesome," "If you do this, you'll be fired." "This was done well." Therefore, it is said that his sleep time was 3 hours. That's amazing. He is a person who worked so hard.

Around this time, China abolished the local silver system, that is, the poll tax, and began to pay taxes in silver based on land and assets. China sold pottery, tea, and silk all over the world, and the price was paid for by silver, so silver accumulated more and more. So it was decided that all taxes would be based on silver.

When the poll tax was abolished, the population of China surged from 100 million to 300 million. With poll tax, you have to pay the tax based on the number of people, so everyone hid the number of children. However, the population increased rapidly because it was decided to "honestly report if land and assets are taxed instead of poll tax anymore." You can see how taxes change society.

In Persia, there was a soldier named Nader Shah in a tribe called Afsharid. This person helps the Safavid emperor and recaptures Isfahan (1729). However, it is just like Nobunaga Oda helped Yoshiaki Ashikaga to enter Kyoto because he took on the role of the emperor and restored the city with his own abilities. Nobunaga has been taking care of Yoshiaki Ashikaga for a while, but if he gets tired of it, he will expel him.

Similarly, Nader will destroy the Safavid dynasty and open the Afsharid dynasty seven years later. This man was a military genius, so he went to India to occupy Delhi. The Mughal dynasty has declined to the point where the Persian army robbed the city.

Nader Shah is called the "last conqueror". In 1747, when Nader was assassinated, his warlord, Ahmad Shah Durrani, became independent in Afghanistan and created the Durrani dynasty.
